Matheson Fillister Plane
Was in our local antique shop today & spotted this Mathieson No 6 fillister plane.

It looks to be in very good condition & although I don't really need it, for the $65 they're asking, I might just call in tomorrow & get it.

I’ve owned one of those before, enjoyed using it greatly, $65 is a steal. I think I paid $100 or more for mine a few years ago. Only sold it as I was given a different fillister plane
Cheers

They are a lovely plane and are easy to use.
It won't be hard to make another wedge for the front - use the rear one as a template.
Happy shavings ahead

Hi WB
From what I can see the plane looks good. Skew blade and plenty blade left and the ends is sticking above the wedge. The wedging fence should be nice to use.
I cannot see the nicker, though. If the nicker is missing they ted to have be made from a hand circle. You could probably make one from grind a scratch awl or a a roundd piece of HSS, ground appropriately.
Regards
Martin
