Possibly for sizing thin lathes or strips of wood.
The Vees would be for chamfering the edges.
Adjustable for size of material by the looks of it.

Stanley made a couple of 'Fibre Board cutting planes' also - may be some instructions out there on the net (for the stanley No 193 and 194). they all seem to have the angled blades/blade bed to cut a bevel, though think maybe they could also do grooves. I've never used one though...

I think you might be correct re it being a fibreboard plane.
These were used to chamfer the edges of the board.
A mate has a Record one his father used whenlining a picture theatre he built down Wagga way.
I scored a complete mint 193 in Canada at a garage sale a few years back.
Even though Hans and a few other sites describe it as the most useless plane Stanley made I found someone who couldn’t live with out it so made it worthwhile bringing it back to Oz.

.Fibre board trimming plane. The 2 V notches are to allow access to the screws holding the blade. The adjustable fence allows for different size chamfers. The blade is mounted at an angle to allow for a slicing action which leaves a clean crisp edge on the seen face.
I have seen a purpose made one using a safety razor blade for a one repair off job when I was an apprentice.
