A truly beautiful table saw
I came across these pics some time ago. Cannot remember exactly where.
I like to keep photos of anything done to a standard vastly higher than I feel I'm capable of achieving at that time.
By looking at the pics before doing any work, they help to set the standard to shoot for. If I can hit even halfway, then I will have improved on what I might have achieved otherwise.
Anyway...enough babble.
I hope you enjoy these pics as much as I did.
Cheers
Jim

That is truly beautiful. I would be too scared to use it in case I got some sawdust on it.

Jim,
a Wadkin looking like that....
Pretty certain it is the handiwork of Jack, one of our Canadian members.

I'm 99% certain the pics were either on an American forum devoted to garages, or another American forum dedicated to old woodworking machinery.
Being Canadian, there's a reasonable chance Jack belongs to one or both forums.
So it could well be.

Too nice to be kept out in the shed. It would have to move in

I'm always astonished when I look at the beautiful craftsmanship of the yesteryears, they took pride in their work unlike today where they slap things together and they look as boring as a polished #### beacuase tthat's all they are.

Wadkin table saw
That is definitely Jacks machine. If you look on his Stenner mortiser thread, you'll see the Wadkin in the background. If you think the Wadkin is good, checkout the Stenner, you'll be amazed.

The best Table saw ever made
Jim
glade you enjoyed the saw.
The wadkin PK is with out a doubt the best looking, finest British precision dimension saw ever made. . Its the holy grail in the table saw world. designed in the 20s and made well into the 50s this saw Boasts engineering that far surpasses wood working machines standers. This is a Pattern maker saw built to a level for engineering firms and pattern shops. Pattern makers machines are the tools that make tools. Every crank and the rise a fall system are encased in oil baths with bronze gears to keep the saw dust out of the works. Its a marvel in function.
I did find the missing crown guard for the saw.
Just got the wadkin DR band saw cutting something i had not see cut for over a year.

Jack, thank you for visiting this thread and showing us your bandsaw.
Your work truly is inspirational.
By way of further explanation for my fellow Aussies, a few words about the significance of a dime on its edge.
I'm sure most will know from American movies that a dime is a 10cent piece. But you may not have heard the expression "one thin dime".
They really are quite thin. For comparison, our 5 cent piece is roughly the same diameter but quite a bit thicker. Standing a dime on its edge would take a steady hand, much less have it stay that way on a machine while running. Very very impressive.
Thanks again Jack.
I was born and lived for several years of my life in Barrie, Ontario. About an hours drive north of Toronto up Hwy 400. Not that far from Ottawa.
Cheers

They might be a bit better than my Tritons, 2000WS and 12" band saw.
