    Default Wadkin in the wild

Lost out on a Wadkin EQ spindle moulder today but found this Wadkin saw set out to pasture not far from me. I could see this baby in Matty's heard. Talk me down boys------------tell me I don't need this this 32" saw Please.

Matty - look what you've done!

Doesn't Jack have one of these???

I thought - for the location/apparent condition - the price was a bit cheeky.

    Mind you ...
    1) If the opportunity isn't that common there ... , or
    2) If doing it up and moving it on might generate funds for a more drooled-for objective.

    Oh course ...
    1) I don't know what piece of damn machinery Jack doesn't have yet. A spindle moulder apparently. Although I seem to recall there was one in the 'To Do' shed ... ?? might be wrong ??

Go on ... you know what you're gunna do ... tell us. Tell us!

Jack has a PK table saw, and a DR bandsaw, which will do most cutting.
But Paul, in saying that, if you recall one of your most recent posts on the Wadkin line-shaft machines found in England one of the "Foundation" machines was a Rip saw of a similar size, Jack has similar sized machines to that set up.

Well put it this way, if you lived near buy wouldn't you be hooking up the trailer like now !!?? I know I would be !!

That Beautiful beast must be saved, and Jack is the man for the Job !

P.S. Paul, I did think the price was a bit rich too, So Crunch him Jack !!!

    Default The Wadkin.

    Hi Jack,
Where would you find another one like that.
I would certainly try to reduce the price, as you have to get it Home, but what a Project to get it back into top Condition.
I say " Go for It " that is, of course you have the Space to put it in.

    Damn, you're a fast one Jack...lol

I guess you could disregard the email I just sent you about that very ad...

Looks to me more like a parts machine, and I just happen to know someone who's trying to piece together a crown guard assembly...

You may just need to increase your dust extraction for this one. These saws really throw out some sawdust.I have a 24" L.S.Barker which cuts a bit over 9" deep and the sawdust is awesome when cutting full depth.

Hi JG, I guess I'm not a romantic at heart but for what it is worth I'll pass on advice that I got not infrequently from my father when he was alive. It was: " You want to get a grip on yourself boy". Hope this helps your decision making. Cheers Old Pete
