Wolfenden Thicknesser
This is my thicknesser. I thought it might be of interest. I love the old machines.
I bought this about 3 years ago from an old window manufacturer who was closing down (retiring) in Geelong.
The thicknesser allows 520mm wide timber up to 8" thick. It has a 5 hp cutter motor and a 3 hp feed.
The feed has 4 speeds and is a metal wheel running in another metal wheel, so not that quiet!!
It has a square cutter head with 2 large heavy knives that I make sure are done up tight.
The in feed is a bit worn so I need to make sure the table is always lubricated.
I had to make a dust chute, 1. for the chips and 2. because watching that cutterhead spinning was kind of scary when retrieving timber for the back.
