Workshop Tour of shed full of restored Vintage Gear
Enjoy the machines but please don't cry when he tells you he paid $100, $200 for these machines and the most expensive was $500, firts 10 min is a bit boring in the back of the shed but when he comes back to the front half wow!

Cool
I'm going to have me a shed full of restored machines like that.......one day
I'm only half way through my first Wadkin table saw though.....
There is a serious amount of resto work in that shop.
I don't think they are overdone, IMO, no point in doing half a job.
I think with the technology available to us now, if it's not better than original, then it's not going into my shed. But then I'm fussy.
Cheers
Andrew

Most of his kit is for sale.
All reasonably priced, just need to cover the shipping.

Might be cheaper than buying & restoring here, a container load of good machines, just need to rewire to 240v. It is a shame I saw someplace that he was having trouble with the mortgage repayments and had to sell some machines to stay afloat.

I've just instructed my other half to pack her bags.
We are moving overseas.
Cheaper too ship two humans begins one way than a truck load of gorges metal
But she said NO

I have a very good mate who works as senior economist at international "major bank". Team was about to release a report that every city of Australia is to be listed as the most expensive in the world. Not just one, all, the entire country. In The World.
Word came down from top that it was to be kyboshed. He was put onto another project. This was last week.
He emailed me and advised to get the passport up to date. Not going to be pretty. Bushfires ahead. Big ones.
Oh, yeah, that gear is magnificent. Absolute art.

I should have pulled my comment. My doom enthusiasm was wrongly placed in the forum. When I read of that poor fellow having to sell his hard worked-on tools for what we see as a pittance, plus I'm a trader, plus i know many in "the industry" telling me daily of well... Doom....I felt for him a great deal.
It things don't work out then we may be in the same boat. We'll be selling beloved tools to make the rent/mortgage/rates.
Holden is simply a reflection of the broader issues we face. Big businesses are blowing up on a weekly basis and we are all pretending as if All Is Fine.
I had a good mate over the other day. We worked together in "the pit" at the stock exchange 20 years ago and he stayed in the game. I went onto other things. He told me stuff that made my hair fall out.
We have avoided the GFC, cool....but, he put it this way, a way all ozzies understand....we get lots of small fires, but every so often a really big fire comes along and cleanses out the bush. It looks like a disaster, but the bush needs it to grow properly. It removes the brush, germinates the seeds and renews the soil. It's the cycle of things. Australia has not had a recession in 20 years. The bush, scrub and prickles have NEVER been removed. In fact, it has been encouraged to grow with government protection. As a trader, they are seeing a Level 10 nuclear firestorm on the horizon for Australia. Too many marginal businesses have survived due to low interest rates and constant government intervention/protectionism.
As I said, I'm very sorry for this US chap to sell to pay rent. Next month might be even harder again for him. May the gods spare us from that scenario.
