    Default Another first build

    Recently finished my wall clock.
Built from a plan and movement bought from Clock Movement Importers in QLD.

I am really happy with the end product.
Learnt a bit about clock movement and chimes.

Very nice clock, Lyle. You have used a Hermle movement. What timber have you used? It looks great!

Antique red cedar for the case and antique Nth Qld silly oak for the door.
The wood was my father in laws. He had it stashed away after he rescued it from old church pews. The wood was in his shed waiting to be used. So after he passed away I decides to make somerhing he would have thought appropriate.
    I machined and dressed it.
Finished it with Minwax wipe on poly.
Made a few mistakes but recovered nicely so you have to know where to look to see them.
    SWMBO loves it.
The family now has an heirloom to fight over.

Must have been difficult to find the round glass and then fit it.

Glass was surprisingly easy. Local glazier hand cut the glass. He surprised us by doing it it while we waited. I took the door to him and he just cut it then. Made it look way to easy. Excellent job and very reasonable.
