I agreee as well the gears need to be as visable as possible but the frame needs to be supported properly otherwise it wont work! Prefer the second one as well. Russell can we move the support around over near the timing wheel ? or somewhere else where it does not obstruct as much? Just looking at the pendulum rod; i would like to see what it looks like if the curve at the top was turned around to match the face of the clock instead of being opposite; it would be more visually harmonious.

I like that a bit better. As you say it complements the clock face a bit better.

Try this on......Just turned around the pendulum rod to match clock face.It does look much better.....

Any comments about the use of the clips on the diagonals?
Added some more detail of the diagonal clip....

Yes like that pendulum rod arrangement better now! Clips are good you have to have them....What would the hour and minute hand look like if they were a more slender version of the second hand? Like an Eiffle tower in 2D?

I have no problem with the clip the way it is. Its not to big. And it is meant to clip together. The pendulum does look better this way around.

If you are going to do a version with the hour and minute hands matching the second hand, like deano suggests, I would like to see 2 versions, one with the spiral armed gears, and one with the circle "hazmat" gears. I have a feeling the hazmat gears might just suit those hands better.
The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

Really enjoying seeing this clock design evolve. Eagerly waiting to see further developments. I only wish I could join in but with 3 plans on my desk it will take me far too long to get to this.

    Hi
Dean have been make some robots for some friends as they have a meet coming up soon, one done, making my sons one tomorrow and a another next week. But I did spent half a day on the cad adjusting bit and pieces on the top frame and mounting the clock faces.
Mount for both clock faces The big clock face one will be a friction fit between the 3 finger and the small one I going to use a small cam lock just to be different.
Still to make flat to wall mount on back frame and design the raised mount if wanted
Dean I will make a set of narrow hands like you suggested I think that might work.
As I said before that there will be space on the board for a few set of hands so any suggestion.....

I keep looking and I keep thinking that hands a bit more symmetrical/traditional please me more.
These ones make me think of harry snotter.
Maybe its a Harry wobbly clock.
But if as you said you have room for another set of hands then I think a symmetrical more traditional set would be nice for us older bods.

It's starting to look really good. I like the look of it a lot and I'll definitely have a go at building it.

In the meantime I've started putting together a Brian Laws clock and am learning lots. I may be able to contribute once I've learned a bit more.

I'll start a thread on my clock very soon.

    Cheers
