Wooden Gear Clock
this thread with a Wooden Gear Clock I made a while back. After some fine tuning with the pallets got it run for 34 hrs before having to rewind.
Relative humidity seems to effect how long it will run before having to rewind.
Gears and face made from Baltic birch.
Got the plans from the Spring issue of Scrollsaw magazine. Designed by Marc Tovar.

Wow, this is something I really like. I can imagine humidity plays a roll in the running time of this clock. It looks a bit fragile, but maybe I'm wrong.
Can it also be made of brass sheet? I'm just curious.
Anyway I'm impressed.
Stunning piece.!!!

Les,
Congratulations on a fine piece of work. The building of them is an exercise in both patience and frustration.
I find that I can keep my one running through the humid weather with the application of graphite powder to the teeth faces and about once a year getting the graphite into the arbour bearing surfaces.
Again, congratulations!!

Great job Les.! Love the contrast. How did you achieve the black finish on the baltic pine? How heavy is your weight?.and whats that skinny black thing above the weight? And finally is there any video of the clock in action? Love to see that!
Dean.
