Dean while you have been making gears for your clock I have got your pulley clamp under way.
I started with the inside of the clamps, there are done in the one piece of stock as this was the best way of clamping it down. The milling step shown in the photos are
Facing the two parts
Ruffing out the internals of the clamps..
Finish cut on internals. This was done with a 6mm ball mill in 0.25 steps.
Finally was the centre drilling followed by the 5mm drill..
Next is to tap the drill holes with a 6mm tap ..cut it into the two parts...make a plate to mount them on to so that the top can be cut.
Still to write the gcode for the top section hope to get to it tomorrow

Actually what you see is the back of the gear. Hopefully the front will be as good!

Hi dean
No doubt the front is as good.
Got a start on the clamp today. The first side has been cut out.
As you can see the part has made a mound of swarf.
Will cut the other side out hopefully tomorrow. When I have the two halves I will give them a polish up next weekvapourforge.com

Dean
There done.
I will post them on Monday.
As for the mill It was a hr45 from H/F but not much of the original is left,
Some pic not very good one but all I have here now.
The mill one show the table with a vacuum box on it, used for very thin materials. You can see the new head we made for it and the hi speed spindle, the head is a composite build and the very helpful swinging keyboard and screen.
The other pic is the computer set up which is on the other side of the white wall with the circular patten on it in the previous photo again the swing keyboard is there The electronic all sit inside a box filled with filtered positive air flow behind a glass door so you can see all the pretty flashing lights... a must I have been toldvapourforge.com

That is an excellent result. I'm sure they look even better in person. Dean will love them.

Here is the finished hour gear with the flange thread attached. The gear came together nicely but I have spent close to a week finishing the troubled flange design!! What a pain; glad its over . Next its on to the newly designed ratchet cluster.....
cheers

Hi all
an update on the progres so far. The clamps are amazing and will post a pic when they are fully assesbled.
The Winder mechanism has progressed very well this week. What started out as a fairly simple build turned out to have some more suprizes. The whole mechanism is complicated....the staft needs to be bearing mounted and two bearings at that to ensure that the shaft stays perpendicular to the clock frame. Next the gear needs to be fixed to the shaft so that it doesnt fal into the frame frame when it is being wound!. The shaft needs to be square on the gear end; that entailed filing 4 flats on a round piece of brass. Just filed a flat and then roated till I had 4!. Each end of the assembly had to have an internal thread; easy enough. The front square brass bit had to be made from round brass bar; not easy! well not for me using a clapped out miller ( better than no miller at all). Finally the whole thing has come together nicely other than the gear being out of square so it will need to be re-cut other than that I am very pleased with the final result.!
Final pic with frame back on clock...
Not quite sure if the square shaft is too long ?
Cheers
Dean.

I can see why, to quote you "I am very pleased with the final result" I would be too. You have been a busy bee.
