After I capsized the boat at the dock on launch day I thought some training wheels might be in order.
The intent is that they would assist us during capsize recovery by adding some stability while the hull was swamped. With 5 days worth of provisions I have no doubt we would be sitting very low in the water and only one person would be able to climb in to bail while the other held onto the boat while still in the water. That was our plan at least, but it has never been tested. We did end up using the fenders as a visual and sound reminder that we were heeled to far over during the cruise. They would splash and alert us.
I added an open bulkhead at the front of the middle seat to act as storage. This is where we keep most of our water supply in gallon jugs.
