Did we talk about epoxy mixes ... the 2:1 appear to be less allergenic - quite a lot of mention about this on the net at the moment.

However ... work clean, use disposable gloves, brushes and rollers ... ventilation is VERY important ... and clean epoxy off yourself with vinegar or a commercial citrus based cleaner.

That's got to be good news mate.

Is it worth considering reducing the amount of epoxy you use? I'm thinking specifically of epoxy coating the thing. I'm well aware of the advantages of poxy coating, but in the interests of reducing your contact with the stuff, maybe it's better to accept the shorter lifespan of the paint with no coating. Just a thought. Beth's such a small boat there can't be many structural places to reduce the amount of epoxy.

Just a thought. Doesn't change the good news either

Since I had problems laying down epoxy resin coats that didn't sag or run, a problem that added many many hours of work getting a fairly fair surface, I'm thinking about skipping it on my next boat. I will probably build with epoxy but coat the finished hull with CPES and then go directly to primer and paint (or varnish). I'll save some weight and a whole lot of work.

I just got started on the next one, BTW. I have fabricated the strongback for the Simmons Sea Skiff 18 and the plans are laid out on the dining room table. I'll start this one in my second floor spare bedroom-boat shop, where I built the Goat, but I'll have to move it outside much earlier. The completed hull wouldn't fit through the door to the balcony and certainly wouldn't negotiate the spiral stairs.

    LOL !!
That's another one has caught the boat-building bug.
Sadly, the only known cure is an empty wallet, and it merely sends it into remission.

When the wallet goes empty there's always plastic.

If you have problems with sagging and running, consider doing it on the flat before assembly.

There don't need to be problems of this type.

    For CPES ... http://www.storerboatplans.com/Faq/S...ervative2.html

I would just as likely ignore the CPES and spend the money on more and better quality paint.
