    Default Daft question for Mik

Hey Mik, how do you reckon Redback's sail would go in a PDR? It's the 8' Nutshell sail and mast set up.

The reason I'm asking is that a PDR build would get me a hull with a bit more room and already having the mast and sail would save a bit of money in the first instance.

    Howdy,

A polytarp sail will set you back between 20 and 70 bucks. Quite apart from the Nutshell sail being too short so the centre of the sail ends up in the wrong relationship to the centreboard.

    That's what I thought.

I think the realistic solution is to work out how to move around in Redback - she's just too cramped for me. I remember watching you walk around in her with a feeling of utter jealousy but I'm a lot bigger in every direction ... and not at all comfortable moving about in boats. I probably need to fall in a few times but I think I'll leave that experimentation until the weather's a bit warmer.

Yes, I could just build a PDR - there's time and money involved there, not to mention the number of boats littering my back yard. I'll rely on borrowing for a while methinks.

Welcome to borrow the Duck Flat PDRs and maybe even the trailer. I am pretty sure that Ted would be accommodating.

    Thanks mate.

It's about time we organised another boating day isn't it. Get all the boys together. Maybe organise a PDR event to coincide.

Probably need to wait till Mik's back from the other Colonies. I'd like to go for a paddle Daddles but my weekend is spoken for and my canoe is still a little way off.

Mind you if the weather keeps on like this a sail maybe sooner than later.

We're blessed with a weird winter in Adelaide aren't we. Yes, it has been horrid of late but we get so much lovely weather, or weather that isn't all that bad if you don't mind a slight chill in the air.

I got the boat trailer out today and checked that the lights all worked - they did ... after I'd administered a therapeutic slap to the left hand set of lights. It even has a current rego sticker (until the end of next month).

    the weather today...
20-25kt nor-easter this am. with dust.
    dropping to 15-20kts late afternoon
picking up again to 20-25kts (or more) ahead of a cold front & Sou-Wester tonight.

this must be a new definition of "the weather today is brilliant" with which I am not familiar !!

My dog ran down to the back fence to bark at something half an hour ago ... he's still fighting the head wind trying to get back to his breakfast

Looks like a good day for buggering up stuff in the shed.
