It's always good to learn new skills !
Hi Alex,
I'm glad that you are persevering with the rollers, if only for the sake of mastering a new skill, as I try to do as often as possible, a good example is that the last wooden boat that I started building is about 50 inches long !. :2tsup:
It will be, when complete, a 1:25 scale, scratch built R/C plywood model of a 1950's British 60 foot luxury motor yacht, that I haven't worked on for almost 10 years, and is still waiting to get finished !. :B
The hull and superstructure are built, but not yet painted, and there is still an enormous amount of detail to add before making it a working model. :o
My problem has been learning too many new skills, and I have been having difficulty deciding just what working features to give it, that have to be designed in, before going any further !, I will get back to it, after finishing my PDRacer, as I dislike not finishing what I start !.
In the intervening years I have got interested in making 3D interactive working model boats for 'Virtual Sailor' and the replacement, 'Vehicle Simulator', there is so much that can be done with this sort of thing now days !. :U
Using these sorts of simulators you can almost learn how to navigate, and sail most types of vessel, particularly sailing vessels, from the safety and comfort of your computer desk !, as the real world physics of wind, water and vessels, with fully interactive working instruments are almost as good as reality, and getting better all the time !.
Back at work on my PDRacer again !
Hi Everyone,
Sorry I havn't been posting, or doing much of anything else lately either, but I feel the worst of my health problems may be behind me now, and hope to get stuck into finishing my PDRacer. :2tsup:
I have finally gotten around to brushing some more paint over the bits where the color was not quite solid. :U
It looks much better after a days drying, so I hope to sand it back lightly about Tuesday 7 september, before putting on anothret coat of red enamel to the hull ( last coat hopefully ).
Latest photo of progress.
Hi Everyone,
Here is the latest photo of my progress. :U
Attachment 147512
This is the 4th, and hopefully final coat, It is not as smooth as I would like, but I think you would agree that it looks good ( at least in the photo ). :;
This was taken a metre away with no zoom ( my camera is a fairly basic 4 mega pixel digital ), so it is very similar to what a person would see from the same distance !. :2tsup:
If this turns out ok by the time it dries ( about a week before handling normally ), I will turn it over, and start sanding the interior and deck, which still need a final coat of resin. :o
Then I can finally get started on painting the interior, and deck !. :oo:
The good news is that my medication is working much better, so I should be able to progress more consistantly, and hopefully faster too ! ( I just need to avoid overdoing things, which usually sets me back, and requires the medication to be changed yet again !! ).
