Will I go faster??
Hi all,
I'm in the final stages of finishing my duck here in the UK.
I'm in the process of varnishing my mast and boom, my last job, but every time I put a coat of varnish on I have a swarm of flies descend and sit.
Now at first I tried to brush them off, then scrape them off but now I'm thinking I should leave them on there. Its only their legs or maybe bums that are stuck but their wings are free!!
If I can find a way of feeding them I'll have a lightweight mast with a greater sail area than most.
Any suggestions? Does anyone else have this problem?

I have had that problem in the past and found that ... yes ... it is best to leave them on if you can't remove them easily.
You could try to figure out what is attracting them. In my case it was having a white painted hull out in the sunlight. I ended up with dozens of tiny flies all over the surface. I just waited for a different part of the day and worked in a shady area. And that fixed the problem.
Maybe a different part of your garden or a different time of day?
