I have just been corresponding with Linda who is the granddaughter of the man sailing the canoe in the post above.

    https://www.woodworkforums.com/showpo...36&postcount=4

Linda pointed me to a website with some more boating content. For those with a little bit of time it is a very nice website, bit of history, bit of art, bit of music. Found it quite touching.

    Hi, Michael!

I've just learned how to respond to your e-mail. Thanks for your note. The canoe in my Canoe Sailing clip has a story you may be interested in and can link to through my web site. I've been trying to put the information in the form of a comment, but it keeps being rejected for some reason.

FYI, the movie was made in about 1927. At that time the canoe was about 12 years old. Clarence Ewart, my grandfather, was the owner. For more information and still photos of Clarence and this canoe you might enjoy a look at the biography section of www.peterewart.com under 'Early Childhood', '1940-1944' and 'A Most Unusual Honeymoon.'

I haven't yet checked out your link, but I will!

    Default Slow? dory to Monbulk

    Gdaye folks.

    New here

Just like to point out that the posters here for for slow boat building records are under serious threat from me, Capt'n Nemo

I have a Welsford dory that is part complete and hasn't had a glove laid on her in quite some years.

Could it be fear, coz Boatmik, Ted the Duck and Dave the Boat plied me with red wine and regaled me with many tales of Dory Disasters, at a Duckworks school some time past.

Knew i was in trouble when on arrival at the school those three worthies surrounded me, asked what I was building and, when learning of my choice, were seen to head shake and mutter 'Brave Decision'.

Still, tucked in behind the MX6, somewhere flat inland of the Coorong, the Welsford touched the ton in old money, so it just goes to show that age doesn't bring wisdom.

Good to see you here Nemo,

    This is Nemo's dory.

It was easy enough to put together, but devilish hard to cut out because the locations for the panels was not clear on the sheets.

Nemo can still beat Biting Midge and his Eureka .. but to be fair ... both chaps have had a lot on their respective plates.
