Coquinas are so-o-o-o-o-o-o beautiful. The Georgia builder mentioned in the Dabbler description only recently launched. His build is chronicled on WBF: Another Coquina - Page 11

Plus, we have a Coquina builder/sailor on this forum now with the recent addition of Rob Hazard (a frequent poster to the WBF thread above). You'll note in Clint's Yawl thread that Rob recently launched his GIS and sailed along with SimonLew (regatta!). His GIS was built to avoid having to haul his Coquina over the road. How's that for kudos to MIK? The GIS is the kind of skiff Coquina skippers build!

Nevermind. Dave, while procrastinating on his build, has beat me to it.

Not hard to see why. The GIS is fast, light and has a tiller.

I just had a splendidly satisfying sail this afternoon. I had 1 hour before I had to be at a prior engagement. The sun had just come out and the breeze filled in from the South. Ten min. to set up, 40 min of sailing, and 10 min to break down and jump back in the car.

I had to row out to the wind, and I got in 3 nice long tacks into the current and made some serious ground. With my new boom and metal wire throat lockdown, I am almost positive I am pointing higher than the past two years, but it's subjective only, I will have to get a compass out.

A quick downwind back to the ramp, and row back to shore, and I was back on my way.

There is something to sitting on the rail and watching the bow slice through the water that makes me all satisfied inside.
