Thx for the drawing, it cleared it out for me
I should have been thinking about it before i mounted the gunwales, it's going to be more difficult now.

Mine were installed pretty close to what Clint's drawing shows. The difference is I routed out a recess so about half the thickness of the plate is below the surface of the wood. It's a snug fit so the fasteners (machine screws) can't be highly stressed. I bedded them in 3M 4200.

BTW, my spacer blocks (length per the plans) were long enough to take the fittings.

ooops ... haha ... got it now.

Hey, that is a nice little drawing Clint. Back in the days before the net was so widely used I had to write and draw replies to tech questions - I still have copies of many of them in folders in storage. One day they might get out on my website somewhere. Or excerpts.

So keep the drawing Clint or occasionally take snapshots of sketches and drawings you do to explain things and put them up on flickr so you can link to them later. Might all be very useful as you get your website together.

I got my fingers in a old Yamaha 3.5 hp engine.
But i'm not sure that the propel (not sure its the right word) is deep enough in the water.
Take a look at the attached photo and let me know. In case it's not then i would preciate some solutions

I think there is max 5 cm to the side.

I would say to give it a try in good conditions set up like it is.

It might work fine. Only problem might be is if it is not deep enough for when the water gets more rough - the propeller might suck air down and lose efficiency.

But might be OK as it is so try it in good conditions

You can set the angle so it is more perpendicular to the water when you look from the side ... that will help too.
