Looks like a busy schedule. Mmm..I may change up my schedule a bit to come hear your talk at David's on the 16th.
Just wondering, though, how are you going to make that October 4 flight out of Boston?

Dana, We'll keep in touch. If we get a big enough bunch of people we might need help putting them up for the night! Also, it occurred to me that I'l have TWO toddlers here at that point, so MIK might decide to stay with you afterall. If he is as good with kids as boats, then maybe not. We'll play that by ear.

Well, wooohaa, you're coming to the colonies. Give me a yell when you get close and trust me, the weather in both the northeast and west is a wee bit nippy (I'm being really, really nice for a southerner) that late in the year. Georgia, Texas and Florida are no worries this time of the year and great sailing, especially if you can catch the back side of a hurricane.

Fall in the NE USA
It is nippy up here in the fall? We can always tell who the southerners are because in October they are wearing fleece while we've just started wearing long pants again.
My favorite boating season is the Fall. I often row right through December. But sailing is best in the Fall...serious wind, flat water, though the breeze can be gusty coming off shore, then the foliage. The water is warmest in late September. It is a wonderful time. Come on up PAR!

Here in the Pacific NW, the weather at that time will be brisk. That often makes for some nice sailing. Here's fotos from the last two years Timothy Lake events:

Hopefully, we'll have some nice brisk winds - and no rain - (as is traditional) for Mik's visit to this event
Cheers,

You see, that's the difference in us. You think the water's warm in September. I'm suggesting it's not even close. My local waters are currently in the mid 80's and will rise to the 90's, which is warm water. water you can surf in it all day without concern. The warm water you're talking about you surf in for an hour and come our with shivering, purple lips. Naaaa, that's not warm water, if you can't make soup with it, it's northern water. And yes, we'll pull out down parkas when the tempatures drop into the 60's.

The corollary: today it was 80's out and pretty humid, not too bad, maybe 55%. Us Mainers were sweating bullets and awefully whiney about it. Our friends up from N.C. had way too much energy..."it is so nice out" they would say as we complained and begged for relief.

It really doesn't get "cold" here until after New Year's Day or so; probably won't
have to dodge any ice floes in the harbor 'till Valentine's day or so ...
Mik, I may have a venue for you here in the Boston area if you can fit it in.
Of course the free lodging offer still stands. If this is a possibility,
I can get you some more details.
