Hi!
Now everyone can make real sailing PDGoose Ocean Explorer - version VSTM
( very-small-test-model)
Scissors, glue and piece of paper + 30 minutes.
It is black and white but You can paint her your own colour.
Do it and examine your future boat in bath tube or even in soup vase. Only put some heavy coin into the cockpit and make from waterproof paper and glue.
Copyright I pass to Perttu and BoatMike- with thanks for nice design.
But I am stil waiting for SOG ( Son of Goat ) from MIK
Have fun

Looking forward to purchasing plans
Hello Perttu and Michael
Well, since stumbling on this design and showing my young lad I shall be purchasing plans for this lovely little cabin cruiser as soon as they are released.
I am a keen Kayak Sailor and so am very much a minimalist sailor myself, so the thought of a boat shorter than my kayaks that I can sleep on sounds fantastic fun!
OK, I know it this been asked before but the estuary I sail in is quite shallow in places and my only concern would be damaging the dagger board. Do you think it would be relatively easy for me to reinforce the bulkhead so I could replace the dagger board with a pivoting leeboard like on some of the Pd ducks?
All the very best and well done on such original thinking!

Hi Andy,
It would be possible, but it will make the cockpit much less useful.
That's not a prohibition, by the way, if you think you can figure it out then give it a shot.
We do know that these types of centrecase are very hard to damage. Even from a big crash any damage is likely to be minimal.

Just a thought ... you could build off centre with the case built into the front of the cockpit seat. That would be the best choice possibly.

Hi MIK
Thank you for such prompt replies, you have settled my mind.
Going on your comment on the fairly hardy nature of the centre case design, the potential reduction in cabin space, and more importantly my previous record of structural engineering modifications I have done to my kayaks when adding spars and leboards etc (high breakage rate !!) - I shall be leaving the design well alone and sticking with the exact design.
All the best

Hi
The plans are ready and should soon come to sale on Duckworks.
Plans also contains 3d model which can be rotated and pats hided etc. ( pdf file )
All parts are shown on that model.
But just for intrest there should be light version of 3d model on duckworks page. ( just boats covers ) so you can see how the boat looks on different angles.
( needs adobe acrobat reader - another readers cant rotate the model )
Thanks
Perttu

Thank you both for your replies. I shall be watching the Duckworks site with keen interest.
My previous post replying to you MIK doesn't seem to have appeared but I shall be sticking with the exact dagger board design in the plans.
Hmmmm, I just need to make some space in my garage!!!

Hi Perttu
I have bought the plans thanks - There is plenty of detail in them so I am really pleased thanks. Now I just need to work out when and where I am going to build it! A Winter project I suspect. I might see if someone could cnc cut all the sheets for me for accuracy
All the best

Howdy,
The method of marking out in the plan is really accurate and it is easy to spot any mistakes because you end up with the batten not touching some of the points.
