Good morning each;

The saga of my Oz Mk2 PDRacer which I am yet to start building.

I've bought the plans (appropriately from Duck Flat), I've read the plans...and I'm confused.

I should be able to find what I'm looking for...but I can't.

I originally trained as an Architectural Draftsman (about 200 years ago I think) and there is no excuse...

I simply can't find the detailed setout details.

Is rampant dementia onset grabbing me or are the details somewhere else, perhaps a missing sheet?

I gottem. Mik and Di at Duck Flat found ém. problem solved, blood pressure back to normal, rum and ginger beer on order. Phew.

Good luck with your tidying, too! I think someone else is going to sail the 'Duck, since it it were me sailing her I'd be last or towed back in . And we can't have that!

I've always considered that Lane Cove valley a serious fire hazard, so IMO you've just moved to a slightly more dangerous area! I can completely sympathise with the whole packing and moving things too. It's a serious hassle to consider what to toss, take, give away, etc. At least you don't have to consider the thousands of euros to toss your gear into a container! So expensive!

I hope you enjoy the new mountains community out west.

Don't rule out the possibility of Narrabeen lakes! If I can get up to the Central Coast (as I intend in the not-too-distant future) then I can get over to Narrabeen!

The thought of the cost of sending stuff via container makes me quail! At least it's not air-freight!

Ha, yes indeed, Although in my case it's usually within 5 minutes of the truck having driven off!

The new shed is slowing getting there: after much work - and money - on excavating and preparing the site, the retaining wall footing, retaining wall and slab are now in place:

Oh No! I knew I'd forgotten something! How will I live with myself! How indeed!, growls Mr Snappy whilst chewing on my leg... there are lots of buckets around at the moment for catching water from an unexpectedly leaking roof (unexpected until I went to look at what was causing it), and there should be plenty of scope for Mr S to keep himself cool.

Just as we were about to move house last year, a package arrived in the mail containing this:

1. A little something from Mr Storer's Really Simple Sails...a balance lugs'l for the 'Duck. All right, for the 8-foot pram dinghy based on the late Mr Bolger's Brick, as tweaked by Mr Storer (photo taken from the top of a ladder leaning up against the house)




2. Luff-side of the new sail. Light-weight Dacron(TM) or similar. *Much* lighter than the polytarp. Note also the apparent absence of the tapered stiffening panel per the polytarp design





3. Top of luff, and top reef point. Note that this is much less much less complex than the polytarp version, too





4. Tack of sail: note also the *much* neater sewing than mine!





5. Reef point: smaller, less stitching, neater...





6. Peak of sail. Like other parts of the sail, less of it than the polytarp original





7. Another view of the sail, spread out on the back lawn





8. Going...





9. Gone! Well, folded up, anyway ;). It actually came in a much smaller, tighter roll through the post

My thanks to Mr Storer for sending me this sail - it is not a saleable item since there are apparently a few flaws (not visible to me and certainly many, many less than my own (polytarp) effort). I have been nearing to get this up for getting on for ten months now, but have had my attention on other things (like sheds, practising, etc.). I was supposed to demonstrate this sail and the 'Duck at a Concord-Ryde Sailing Club regatta on March 15 last year, but the move squashed all chance of that - and Mr Storer very kindly let me keep the sail! Many thanks, MIK :). Once the shed's up, I will attempt the boat back on the water - probably at the Penrith Lakes waterways.

Quite a lovely sail. I would get one myself except for the tiny problem of being boatless at present.

At least you are starting out on summer as to be able to enjoy some water time. It is too cold right now for even going out in the garage for now here.

Come and see us when you can. Several of our regular sailors come from the mountains.

And we are now up to four Firebugs.
