    Default some PDRacer questions

    Hello everyone,

I haven some questions from the construction of the PDR.

    My first question:

    See picture below.
The plans from the OZ pdracer come with en glassing method with the outside corner of the hull. It gives a thickening on the hull.
My idea is with a router slot cutters and with epoxy and a smal timber (8x8mm), to a more stronger outside corner.
Is that a good idea or make this the construction weakness?

    My second question:

Is there a drawing or solution for the aorlocks on the pdr.
The deck is very weakness to mount a aorlock.

I hope you can help me!

    Best Wishes Cees

    Hi Cees and welcome!

(Cees is one of two Netherlanders building PDRs at the moment)

The glassing is the critical process. It means that the glass fibres are across the glue join. This is very strong.

It is possible to use the standard construction method with the PDRs without any glass tape, but the glass tape adds some extra strength for very little effort which will be useful in the life of the boat.

I will put a drawing together or find the one I did a while ago and put it here. Some do just put a plastic oarlock on the outside of the gunwale but there are at least two methods. I will do a drawing. As long as it is done before the decks go on there will be no problems. It is pretty easy.

    Best wishes
    Michael
