    Howdy,
The first GIS has been built in Hungary as well. The boat was tested too with success.

The boat builder was kind enough to share his building experiences too. (link, Hungarian language)

The hollow spacers are interesting. Hidden weight reduction means the competition will never know what hit them!

    Keep up the good work!

Wow- hollowing out the spacers equals work. No thanks!

What's the story with doing the internal framing before slapping on the bottom?

    Yes Chris,
Errak made many of his own experiments... What for? I don't know - manual attached to the plans by MIK is probably very detailed and clear.

The only problem is that the boat won't have the correct shape for the bottom.

Not such a problem so far because those seat supports are light and hopefully easy to bend.

But if the seat tops go on before the bottom there will be real problems getting the bottom to fit properly.

Can you pass that on (gently) Robert?

Probably the order resulted from the absence of plywood needed to do the bottom.

Today, that is, July 14th, 2012, first in Poland GIS (Goat Island Skiff) designed by Michael Storer of Australia, built by Kuba @Errak held its first tacks under sail, on Lake Dziekanowskie near my house:

More (a total of 45) photos there:

Bravely gave the boat and its skipper and crew. Minor comments on the details of the rigging and sail control.

Congratulations to Kuba, as well as his patient and forbearance wife Karolina.

    Videos on youtube soon!
    Aloha!
