Unthickened epoxy for coating.
Loose mix for laminating flat areas - when you lift the stirring spatula, no spike forms.
For all gluing, bearing in mind that you need to prime the gluing surfaces with unthickened before gluing and this tends to 'dilute' the glue a little, a mix that is so thick that when you lift out the stirring spatula, a spike forms that slumps back.
For filleting, that spike should stand proud.
The gluing mix is actually a lot thicker than you'd expect but it does work. You'll develop a feel for it after awhile - essentially, the more powder, the stronger the mix but you still want it to flow into the voids in the job.
btw, a common terms used for thickness is 'mayonaise' and that means very little to me so I can only assume that these products vary around the world, the 'mayonaise' I've seen is too runny even for laminating.

Great tip! Nice visual indications, that's good to know. I've been running a little too thin then, I'll thicken it up when I get to gluing the BH's to the sides and the bottom.
I've heard honey, peanut butter, etc. Besides making me hungry, it seems to be a tad inconsistent for the beginner like me, so I've been running with something in between honey (which is pretty liquidy) and peanut butter (which for me is like concrete).

I love rubbish glue!!!
Went to dry fit the deck on today and....... it was about 30 mm too short in the width!!!! Nightmare!!! So, seeing my epoxy hasn't arrived and the fillets built up, I tapped around the edge with a thin scraper, one tap and hey presto it came out!!! Saved.
So I'm a happy chap again. Lets hope I don't make such big mistakes when its all epoxied together!!

I thought I had better update you all with the build.
Isn't it amazing that when you take a photograph you suddenly see all the imperfections. Like the stain in the "quality wood" I bought. Next duck I'm going to choose the sheets myself. Yes...you did hear right, there may be another duck.

You'll also notice the fillets, ranging from crunchy peanut butter, smooth, mayonnaise, and just far to thin, explaining the little puddles!!
Anyway, shes coming along and I'm lovin it, so I suppose thats what counts.
