Hi everyone,

I popped off a PM to Michael with a few questions regarding the quick canoe and Michael suggested that a thread in the forum was equally suitable for the questions I had. So hence this thread showing Michaels response to me.

Cheers and I hope this helps others also.

Baz B.

I have purchased some Bote-Crete Epoxy and for filler I bought Fillet & Glue Filler Powder. Is this suitable for the glueing and the fillets?

Yes, that will be OK. The normal high strength fortifier is stronger and makes a nicer, smoother glue mix. If it is easy to change over I would. But if it is difficult the one you have will be OK.

Also with the temporary spreaders, I am at a loss as to the location of these. I have the dimensions for them but not their relevant position. I assume they have to be located at set dimension. Is this correct or what?
They are placed on each second 300mm reference mark. The longest one goes in the middle. then the others go on the reference marks you drew when drawing up the side panels.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon and hopefully getting this into the shape of a canoe!!!
Also I am considering mounting an electric motor out the side on a board(?) attached with a bar under the Inwhales(?). Is this practical?

If it is really light it might be OK. A normal outboard over the side will probably capsize the boat if there is nobody in it. So it might work if you are careful and use the battery strapped into place to the other side in the middle of the boat to act as a counterbalance. Another way would be to build an outrigger for one side and use the back crossbeam to mount the outboard.

Please contact me if you have further questions. I think the forum is a good place for these types of questions ... I promise you other people will be quite interested!

Best wishes
Michael
