    Default Quick canoe petrol?

    Hi,

I'm pretty keen on building a Quick Canoe - most likely the Electric although I really much prefer the look of the original. I already have a 2hp Yamaha outboard (pretty much like this one: http://www.broadwaterboating.com.au/outboards/318_Yamaha_2hp_Portable.php) and was wondering if it would be ok to use with the QC Electric?

Also, can anyone point me in the right direction for timber suppliers in Brisbane? I have already found the BoatCraft Pacific website... are they as good as any other?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Brendan

    HI Brendan,
Boatcraft are fine. They have most of the stuff you need in one place.

The 2hp will be fine. It will give you quite high speeds with one person aboard. Don't be too crazy with the throttle ... it is a narrow boat and there is a little chance that you could flip it if you are going too fast and turn hard.

It won't be stupidly overpowered with the 2, but remember to be a little careful when you see the speed creeping up towards 10 knots. It is really meant to spend most of its time around 4 to 6 knots

The shape will tend to make it point its nose way up in the air in those situations too. The result of the low drag at low speed hullshape.

    Hope this helps

    Michael

Just so you know ... there is a delay when you post something here the first two or three times ... they just have someone read your post to check there is nothing bad in there. After you have done three (I think) the posts will be published instantly.

    Hi Mik,

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. Sounds like the QC Electric is the go. Now I just need to source the plans and materials!

    Cheers,

    Brendan
