Row Handy Punt?
Anyone rowed/rowing a Handy Punt? I have an aversion to motors that burn fossil fuels but my son wants a stable fishing platform so we're looking at the Handy Punt, but I'd like to row it. Lakes here in Ecuador are so small that we don't need to go far or fast.
Recommendations for length of oar welcome as well.
Thanks, Jerry

This is not anyone's favorite idea, eh?
Maybe a better rowing boat, with Michael's outriggers for stability when fishing, would be more suitable. Thing is, I'd like it to have capacity and room to fish for four. Trying to stay near 100 pounds.

Hi Jerry,
I missed this for some reason.
it is a good idea to have some rowlocks and oars as auxiliary power. But with the outboard on the back the boat won't be a paragon of rowing virtue.
Even without the motor it won't be a paragon, but will be a bit better.
The problem is the rowing hullshape really requires the bottom of the boat to curve up and meet the water surface at the back. Thats at its most basic. However this is exactly the wrong shape for a planing powerboat!
Best wishes
Michael
