Storer in Wooden Boat
I hope this isn't old news but I just picked up a copy of WoodenBoat 2009 Small Boats Magazine. In it there is an article on Fenwick Williams' 18' catboat and reference is made to Michael's reworking of the design for strip plank construction. There are even quite extensive quotes from him about the project. I know this is not the first time he has been in WoodenBoat as I have an old copy with an article on Beth but I hope it doesn't happen too often or we may have to buy him a bigger hat .
The mag also has an article on a 16/30 sailing canoe which might rival Beth or not, I'd be interested in Michael's comments. The 2010 issue should have a feature on the GIS or Raid41.
cheers,

I saw this too, found more info on it, http://www.storerboatplans.com/David...idcatboat.html
I really love this catboat. I think I'll build one someday.... Someday, when I get a new plane...

I think a GIS should be in the small boats issue. Personally, trying to get "in" with folks at WB in hopes of teaching there, has shown how tricky they are to get to open up to new ideas. I've been thinking about a new course to propose there...a niche to fill...and some family boatbuilding around a GIS seems to be in order, with some spars and oars going on along the sidelines. I hope MIk would be open to that idea, I think the boat would be a good fit, but I need to make sure things will line up in addition to finding the niche. A GIS yawl would be a hit in the next small boats issue!

Howdy Clint,
The thing that all magazine publishers like are good articles and pictures. Put it together with the school aspect and you have a winner.
Trick is .. don't overpromote the boat unless they ask you to. Focus on the school and maybe devote a para or two to the boat. Or a sidebar.
I can help clean it up if you like. Maybe it will be able to be pulled from what you write on the forum too. (or the kids write on the forum - remember that option is still open if you monitor what they put up.
