It's good that you think - sorry for that

OK... You can stretch most S&G canoes ~10% in length but not in wide. Is it possible and does it make sense to stretch the BETH or do I have a big peace of rubbish???

    Has anyone already done it?

    Greetings Cello

    Hi and welcome Cello,

    I am thinking about it.

If you take a Cello and add 50mm to it's height ... you still have a polite man.

It SHOULD work ... but I am concerned it might look a bit strange and there are a bunch of problems to solve .. the centrecase has to move further back which means you lose some length from the cockpit that you wanted enlarged.

The cockpit would only increase by half the change in length ... so you don't get a lot of change unless the length goes up further.

I look forward to your reply.

    Hi Michael,

    thank you for your response.
I want a much bigger cockpit - maybe a complete other deckdesign. The centrebox would be in the middle of the cockpit. Your hulldesign seems to be verry good that I may want to use it.
So many questions for "my" boat.

    I'll be back later

    Hi Cello,

The problems are that you lose a lot of buoyancy tank volume if the cockpit is extended too much. Keep thinking and I am happy to discuss anything that helps you choose.

I'm even happy if you choose another design. Wood boats are great!

I'm looking for "my" boat - suitable for paddeling (2 people + luggage) and sailing (1 or 2 people)
I think about using a "Laser-" "IC-" (maybe a little bit smaller up to 7.5 m²) or for testing (ceap used) surf rig
I started to plan my own boat until I realized your BETH

My plan until Beth you can see below. Now I think about mixing my plans with your Beth...
