A quick look on the net will show you that there are plenty of the old boats still racing. Most of the boat is 3ply. lol. Two sheets will see the decks redone and maybe two more for the cockpit floor
the rest is ok really! lol.Working out where to put all the rigging later will be "fun" i took 100's of photos before removing. The Cairncurran sailing club i'm about to join has FD's in their fleet so i will have all the help i 'll need.Big job? or could not let an old boat die.

ok,after a long night on the computer,,,i have come to this decision.I'm using Bote cote non-yellowing epoxy coating,.The exterior surfaces(cockpit floor and bulkheads) to be then coated with Aquacote clear.Altho living in Melb.I'll order it from Drive marine services in Sydney.Fingers crossed. lol

Aquacote is very humidity sensitive. You need lots of humidity to make it work OK.

PAR in Texas waits until it is a humid day and then hoses down the floor of his workshop when using water based polyurethanes.

Here in Adelaide, because it is so dry, it's very difficult to make the Aquacote work.

The Bote Cote is perfect for all gluing etc and is fine for the coating.

Did you have a look at my epoxy FAQ? It will save you heaps of time and material.

    Best wishes
    Michael

I'm in Florida, I do wet down the floor if necessary, to jack up the humidity. I have to admit I've stopped using these paints, so it's not much of an issue now.

Florida is as south as you can get in the continuous 48 states. I'm about half way down Florida at latitude 28 degrees 51' 10.73" north. Is smack the word you were looking for, possibly swat?

Well that's great that you'll have some boats to compare and compete with. That's always a big plus. Does the boat have any sails, or will you need to buy those? Good on you for saving another dead FD
