Whisky Plank?
In traditional boat building in the UK the final plank attached to the boat is called the whisky plank and as that is attached you have the excuse to drink the amber nectar.
Which has got me thinking.... what is the final plank on the duck? and is it acceptable to celebrate the birth of a new chick?

I sure as heck can't answer your first question...
But it certainly seems to me that celebrating the completion of a boat with suitable libations is always acceptable. And if it isn't, it should be.Building Gardens of Fenwick, a Welsford Parthfinder

Great idea-- make sure to bring friends! Can't do this alone! You're going to need help! Bust out the Quaich!
Certainly be sure to toast Poseidon himself! Very important.
Post pictures of your Whiskey Plank gathering and I'll post pictures of mine!

That plank is also called the "shutter plank", which suggests you've just closed her up. Now, if they only had a "shutter up plank", so I don't have to hear her goings on any more . . .

The last plank on a clinker boat is called the Saxboard.
It was made extra thick so the Danes could leave their battle axes stuck into it.
In a sense the last plank to go on a PDRacer has an interesting name too. We call it the bottom, even though it is on the top when it is fitted.

OOOOooooooohh!
Now we're mixing whiskey and ax throwing! This could get exciting! It's always a good idea to keep the old traditions alive, people!

Sounds like a good way to keep warm in New Hampshire!
I've got my axe in the 'fridge as we speak - sounds entirely too energetic and sweaty for here!
