Default Drink driving in the festive season.

A warning to be careful about drink driving in the festive season as police are everywhere out there checking on drivers. Last night I was out for a few drinks. One thing lead to another and I had a few too many pints and then went onto the Wild Turkey. Not a good idea. Knowing I was over the limit, I decided to leave my car at the pub and took a taxi cab home. Sure enough, I passed a police checkpoint at the top of the road where they were pulling over cars and performing breathalyser tests. Because I was in a taxi they just waved it past. I arrived home safely and without incident, which was a real surprise as I've never driven a taxi before and I am not even sure where I got it from.

My Rule, if you are planning on drinking a single light beer, then dont plan to drive.

Had a laugh at the above, but, all jokes aside, I'm pleased to see the police out and about doing the drink/drug tests.

good to see the police doing there job, making the streets safer catching the heavily intoxicated

NZ just changed there limit a few years ago from .08 to .05, i didn't mind it at .08 as you could have two drinks and know you are legally fine to drive, where as .05 you just don't know and its not worth the risk

i don't drink now, so it doesn't affect me, but for those in rural areas, taxis aren't really available and the only entertainment is the pub.

I took a bus home one night, they still haven't come to collect it off the driveway.

So, next time you going to take the train home, be careful, they might track you down....

I've seen Draught beer, with the manufacturer pulling a loaded cart with kegs on it.

Many years ago QLD had a beer strike and we reluctantly had to drink beers from south of the border.

I particularly remember one which was termed "the green death", I heard some blokes sent it to a lab for testing, the result came back as "this horse is unfit for work".

I remember that beer strike & the lab definitely got it right! I think the horse came from South Aussie.
