Many years ago a young lady had a 'hope-chest'. When she finally married she asked her new husband if he would respect her wishes and never ask to see the contents of the chest.
For many years, he respected her wish, until one day when he was home alone and noticed that the lock wasn't in place. After contemplating the situation for most of the day, curiosity got the better of him and he opened the trunk.
Inside he noticed three eggs sitting on top of a pile of money. When his wife arrived home he felt he should confess. "We've been married for thirty-five years and I have always honoured the promise I made back then regarding your 'hope-chest', however, I noticed the lock off your trunk and opened it." he said. "I really am curious about what I found."
"What did you see?" she asked. "Well, I couldn't help but notice three eggs. What on earth is that about?"
"You've been a good husband, so I'll tell you. Each egg represents each time I have been unfaithful."
He thinks for a moment and recalls that he has not exactly been the most faithful husband, what with having around ten affairs himself.
"OK. We're not all perfect so I don't have an issue with that."
"Thank you for being so understanding my love." she replies.
"Well, that wasn't so bad was it? Now about all the money. Where did you get that?"
"Oh that's no problem. As soon as I get a dozen eggs, I sell them."
