But they couldn't move to see, you said they can't move their heads so can't turn to see who is besides. Good solution though Skew.

Ah, but the wall is the line beteen #1 & #2. So #1 is facing to the right and the rest are facing to the left. So #3 can see the back of #2's head without moving and #4 can see the back of #2 & #3's heads...

(It took me a while to work out how they were facing, too.)
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

Inadequate drawing was the problem, if you look at the pic they are all facing the same way aligned shoulder to shoulder.
Though I didn't read it very carefully, like all my exams.

A very rich man tells his two sons to race their horses to a distant town to see who will inherit all of his fortune. The one whose horse is slower will win. The brothers, after wandering aimlessly for days, are sitting at a campfire discussing their plight when, suddenly, one of the brothers has an idea and tells it to his brother. They then jump on the horses and race as fast as they can to the town.

    What was the brother's idea?

I read something like this in a book once The two riders rode each others horses so the owner of the horse which crossed the line first lost.

Do I have half the answer?

    Oh..Okay..

A man has has bought a new car and is so excited about the prospect of showing it to his girlfriend that he isn't paying much attention on his trip home. He goes through a red light, bumps into someone in front of him and turns down a no entry road.
A police officer sees all this but makes no attempt to caution him.

    Why?
