    Default Joke?

At first I thought this was funny...... Then I realized the awful truth of it.
Be sure to read all the way to the end!

    Tax his land,
    Tax his bed,
    Tax the table
    At which he's fed.

    Tax his work,
    Tax his pay,
    He works for peanuts Anyway!

    Tax his cow,
    Tax his goat,
    Tax his pants,
    Tax his coat..

    Tax his tobacco,
    Tax his drink,
    Tax him if he
    Tries to think..

    Tax his car,
    Tax his gas,
    Find other ways
    To tax his ass.

    Tax all he has
    Then let him know
    That you won't be done
    Till he has no dough.

    When he screams and hollers;
    Then tax him some more,
    Tax him till
    He's good and sore.

    Then tax his coffin,
    Tax his grave,
    Tax the sod in
    Which he's laid.

    When he's gone,
    Do not relax,
    It’s time to apply
    The inheritance tax.

    Accounts Receivable Tax
    Airline surcharge tax
    Airline Fuel Tax
    Airport Maintenance Tax
    Building Permit Tax
    Cigarette Tax
    Corporate Income Tax
    Goods and Services Tax (GST)

    Federal Unemployment (UI)
    Fishing License Tax
    Food License Tax
Petrol Tax (too much per litre)
    Gross Receipts Tax
    Health Tax
    Hunting License Tax
    Inheritance Tax
    Interest Tax
    Liquor Tax
    Luxury Taxes
    Marriage License Tax
    Medicare Tax
    Mortgage Tax
    Personal Income Tax
    Property Tax
    Poverty Tax
    Prescription Drug Tax
    Real Estate Tax
    Recreational Vehicle Tax
    Retail Sales Tax
    Service Charge Tax
    School Tax
    Telephone Federal Tax
Telephone Federal, Provincial and Local Surcharge Taxes

    STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & our nation was one of the most prosperous in the world.. We had absolutely no national debt, had a large middle class, and Mum stayed home to raise the kids.

What in the "Hell" happened? Can you spell 'politicians?'

Most of them don't exist now, at least in Australia. 100 years ago, we had many people living in poverty, dad worked, when he could, for peanuts in unsafe conditions while mum, if she could, took in washing or scrubbed floors for a pittance.
Today, we have one of the strongest economies in the world, even those who can't or won't work don't have to starve, and we have one of the highest standards of living in the world. If mum works, it's probably on the same wage as her male counterparts. If she wants to stay home and look after the kids, or at least only work part time, she can.
This sort of 'joke' is typical of the rubbish published by right-wing American loonies. There's no place for it in a joke thread.

No one like to pay taxes and we avoid it as much as we can.
However, we wouldn't have roads, hospitals, police, a justice system, schools, assisted university places, a defence force, border security etc etc without them.
    Some of those listed don't even exist in our country;
    Prescription Drug Tax
    Real Estate Tax
    Recreational Vehicle Tax
    Retail Sales Tax
    Service Charge Tax
    School Tax
    Telephone Federal Tax
Telephone Federal, Provincial and Local Surcharge Taxes
    Telephone Minimum Usage Surcharge Tax

In fact, instead of a prescription drug tax, we have assisted purchase of such called the pharmacutical benefits scheme to make prescription drugs cheaper. And it is paid for out of our other taxes.
Taxes are not all bad, and are the price we pay to live in the society that we do.
I wish that they were less but they are what they are.
Remember that 100 years ago our average life expectancy was much less than today, and this has improved on the back of improved health services paid for by - you guessed it .............

    Cheers

    Hi,
Most of the taxes you think we don't have are spelt GST.

    Precisely.
And it is mentioned in the list as a separate tax.
Many of those others disappeared when the GST was introduced, if they existed at all.
I am not trying to pour cold water on the humour, just to add a bit of perspective to the post.
It is easy to get carried away with lists without checking them all.

Good idea. let's go back 100 years.

Of course, then we would have a 100 year old health system, 100 year old education system, 100 year old transport system 100 year old law & order system, 100 year old political system etc.

Oh wait, this is N.S.W. ...

    I see your point.

I found reading that list to be exceedingly taxing.
