My favourite is the New York bar owner who noticed his sales were down by a significant amount although his stock purchases remained about the same.
He knew there was some chicanery going on but, as his bar staff all knew him, he decided to hire a Private Eye to check the place out.
After a week, the PI reported to the owner that he'd visited the bar on numerous occasions and sat at the bar watching every move of the staff.
He couldn't spot anything iffy as every dollar that crossed the bar was paid into one of the three tills.
"Three tills?" the bar owner exploded. "I only installed two!"
