Geoff haven't had a chance as yet been to busy.
I will be try to sort that out over the weekend after I make a quick frame for a sign tomorrow.
Let me know how much Geoff including postage I'll check as stated above first.
I happen to have a couple of small stepper motors out of an Epson printer time I checked V etc.

Geoff had a look today at wires from/to the stepper motor 6 in all black, red, red-white, white, green, green-white. But 5 pin do I need to change this to a 6 pin?
This little drive motor is also 24v

Ray,
Good news, this means you can use one of the Easydrivers (or Gecko drivers) as these works with 4, 6 or 8 wire motors.
You can still use the 5 wire motor as is but you'd have to find a unipolar stepper driver which are not that common (Ocean Controls in Melbourne do sell a suitable one but as a kit).
Now the trick is to identify which of the 6 wires to use. More research needed here, I'll put the coffee on.
[Is this the same Astrosyn motor or another one? It looks a bit smaller than your original photo]Geoff

No info to be found regarding Astrosyn wire colours, I guess they are fairly old motors.
Best way then is to use a multimeter and measure the resistance.
There are a number of websites that cover how to do this, this one and this one for example.
(don't use the procedure as explained on the ehowto.com site, I've never seen so many technically inaccurate articles gathered in one place before )Geoff

Is this what I was to look for?

Looks like the common centre tap connection is two separate wires (white and black) that go into the motor - correct? If so, then it should work fine with the Easydriver (sent off today). You'll still need to to the multimeter bit to establish which wires are for which coil pair(s).

I just located this explination makes it easy for dummies like me to see what to do.
I do not use my Multimeter often and long have forgotten many of its uses.
