    Default New 3d Printer toy

    I've bruised a tendon in the wrist, or strained it or something, the end result is that I have to treat it gently for a while.

    To keep me busy, I've bought one of these 3D printers. Ord bot Hadron

    I ordered it last week and box 1 of 2 arrived today. This box has all the mechanical bits and pieces so I can start assembly.
    Electronics and extruders should be in box 2. Bought it from AutomationTechnologies (used to be Kelinginc), they have a number of different kits.

    I just have to find somewhere to assemble it as the desk is still unfinished because I can't carry the top from the shed into the house The kitchen table already has a CNC router filling it...

    I'll try to keep a build log, being inactive is a good excuse to get my web site up to date.

    Great look forward to following this. I enjoyed watching the one at SWWS last year.

    Shame freight from Tassie is so exy I'd send a list of bits to do.

    I am half way through assembling my Printrbot but am stymied because the plate thermistor is missing from the kit and the supplier is sending me another - must be by the slow boat via Cape Horn.

    After much reading, I got the thing assembled. It took a couple of hours to assemble, the instructions are not a step by step description,so there was some disassembly required to put missing nuts into the extrusion slots. A CAD program that can expand on the provided drawings is a great help.
    This is just the mechanical side, the electronics should arrive this week - if the USPS tracking can be believed.

    The plan calls for drilling some holes in the extrusions so the wiring can be routed through it. I'll leave this for later as I want to use the mill to do this and it needs some 'tuning'.

    I really need to get that desk finished, I'm going to need some more space for the next steps.

    Default Getting closer

    Electronics arrived on Friday, or most of them at least. Missing the XYZ end stop switches.
    Busy weekend so not chance to get assembling, maybe this week.

    One concern is that the neat plastic box the the Auduino and RAMPS module (stepper drivers, etc) came in, had the word 'BAD' written on it. .
    Hopefully the supplier can shed some light on this. (Initials of the QC checker?)
