my 6040 cnc
hello everyone
its been awhile, but iv got busy and had another go at my CNC
way too hot to do any pen turning in my shed
so move the CNC into the wifes scrapbooking room down stairs (she wasnt all that happy for some reason)
anyway i ran new shielded cables from the steppers to the controller checked everything, all apeared ok
fired it up and it moved, good, then i could smell hot stuff from the controller, opps thats not good, turnes out i fried a card
ok plan B, already had all the bits needed to build a new controller
asked a sparky friend of mine for help to get started and emailed Peter from homanns with a lot of questions.
am at the point were i am fitting up limit switches when i realised that the pump that came with the CNC to run the spindle isnt gonna work
the gecko puts out 48v the pump is 24v back on the net looked at air cooled one but am not sure
i found one on here Aliexpress.com : Buy 800w air cooled cnc router spindle motor from Reliable spindle suppliers on CNC Router Accessories Trading Company
if i coud get some feed back on what everyone thinks
or another option i could run with it would be a big help
thankyou in advance for any feed back
cheers Tony

You can get some better prices from ebay.
PROFESSIONAL 0.8KW AIR COOL SPINDLE MOTOR FOR GRINDING/MILLING/ENGRAVING p6 | eBay
I've purchased from this seller in the past with no dramas.
I'm not too sure if its suitable but maybe a cheapo pond pump from bunnings if you don't want to buy a new spindle, they'll run from 240V or maybe there are some 12V models available. (You can get 12V from your PC)

Just buy a 24 volt wall wart to run the pump.
Or even use 2 x 12 volts in series.Bob Willson

Maybe you could get 2 x 24V relays, something like an NY2 and run the coils in series. Then you could use one set of contacts to run the pump, and the other set to run something else, a solenoid maybe?
Or better yet, one relay to control the pump, the other the mains supply to the inverter...
