I got 9060 machine from china - Help!!
s1343278549110.jpg s1343278530538.jpg
Pleased as punch, I couldn't wait to unpack it and put it all together. So what do I do now, Think I forgot that there was a next step, like learning about how to set up and operate it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have manaed to get onto the youtube videos and do the basic software settings with Mach3. Now to hook it back up to the router and that's about as far as my brain has got.
Ian.
PS. It's my Birthday.

If you've completed the initial SW setup, then hook it up and tell us what doesn't work.
We can guide you through the next steps

Hi Ian
Is that Midland WA you're at? If so, I'm not far away in Ellenbrook. Happy to help if I can. Send me a PM if you like.
Cheers

Thanks Mike and Geoff,
Awesome, someone over this side of the rabbit proof fence.
Today I got the puter hooked up to the router, oh dear! got some something wrong, X and Y axis is only jogging in one direction even when I press the opposite direction and the spindle slowly winds up to full revs and stays there, even when I hit the emergency stop. Z axis is not talking at all.
As soon as I the chance I will go through the pin assignments again to see if I got it wrong there somewhere.
I'm extremely time poor at the moment so I only got about 20minutes with it today. I'm looking forward to spending lots of time in the shed.

That sounds like the typical amount of fettling needed by some of the Chinese CNC routers.
Unless it really is just a dud lead or two, a shortcut if you are time poor might be to buy something like a Geckodrive G540 and throw the chinese controller out!

I'm surprised that the 9060 crowd don't have a standard XML file already made for your setup which had the drive settings and spindle configured

I must say I wasn't surprised it didn't fire straight up out of the box, being an import and reading some of the problems that have been had with the controllers.
The Gecko G540 looks pretty good and has alot of good reviews for it. I just don't have the electrical expertise and get lost in the paperwork, finding the setup vids on youtube got me through the initial setup, I then understood the paperwok alot better. Most of what I got with the machine was about the 3phase inverter and I ain't got an understanding of that. I'm hoping to go through the wiring on Monday and run a meter over it checking the connectors etc.
I'm really looking forward to getting it running though as I've got plenty of wood to customise.
Thanks for your comments so far, just knowing there's support and information is very encouraging.

Geoff, I'm excited!!!!!
Changed over the computer, the frequency now hovers around 24600 - 25000. Also found that I had missed a setting The one that makes it reverse!! so one little call has made such a big difference, the jogging is now alot smoother too I've slowed everything down. Still need lots of training though.

Anywhere in particular I should purchase the full version of Mach 3 from? Any other software I should/could be getting that will assist me getting off the ground. I've been watching tutorials where I can whilst at work, just ain't enough hours in the day.
Still haven't got the smile off my face from last week, just watching it going in the right direction was exciting. My finger is still sore from discovering how sharp the tools were.

Hi Ian,
I always seem to come in late. I guess I get there eventually. I can provide Mach3 licence files at a reasonable price.
Mach3 Licence File [MS-01] - US$148.00 : Homann Designs!, The preferred CNC Component Supplier
If your interesting in what is involved in wiring the G540. Have a look at this engineering note.

BTW, you don't need to complete all of the wiring, just what you need for your machine.
Cheers,

It's getting sooooo close now.
Thankyou Geoff for your assistance, cause I had no idea. I tried running the code you sent but it was doing the same thing, doing the letters half over each other and then slowly going down at an angle.
Problem I have found now is that if I jog the X axis 50mm, the carriage moves 48mm and then when I return to zero it moves back approx 49.5mm.
Is there an adjustment I can make pulse wise or something or do I just give up on the controller.
Running code it continually misses steps, I've fitted a shielded cable(1.2mm core) to the spindle but didn't make any difference. I updated to the latest version of Mach3 just incase

Hi Ian
Before doing anything else, try slowing down both the speed and acceleration by 50% and see if it still does it.
If it does then halve both again and retry it. If it STILL has the bad behaviour then we will need to try something else. On the other hand, if it cures the problem then we know that you just had the speeds set too high.
Let us know the results.Bob Willson
