A-CNC-G South Australian CNC BBQ Invitation 16 & 17th October 2010
I would like to invite all interested CNC people to the Second A-CNC-G BBQ to be held on the 16th and 17th of October 2010, the location a New 325 square meter factory in Pooraka.
It has been well over a year since our last successful BBQ held at Redarc and attended by 35 enthusiasts, where we all enjoyed a very interesting factory tour of their modern electronics facility. This meeting will be more hands on, and down to the business of owning, operating and constructing your own CNC equipment. Whether your interests lie with mill, lathe engraver, robotics or any other form of Mecatronics, you will be sure to find something of interest as well as many like minded people who share your passion. So mark your calendar and get ready for this festival of blokes in sheds.
So far we have the following machines available for display
RHUSEC a 1.5 tonne Taiwanese mill converted to run with Mach
2.5 tonne of Taiwanese ACRA lathe
SEIG X3 to Mach conversion
Boxford Lathe conversion in progress
Custom wood lathe construction project
3x3 engraver/ router with cnc teknics kit and 3phase brushless spindle
Table top mill home construction with Mach control
PCB drill/ engraver made from old large format plotter
Laser engraver adapter for mill
1 rotary tables and 1dividing head cnc conversion
Large floor-mounted laser cabinet
plus several multimedia presentations of remote builds in progress.
If you would like to bring along your creation, please contact us so we can discus the logistics. The more machines on display, the better the event for every body.
Meeting format
The meeting will start on Sat 16th in the afternoon with the set-up of displays and receiving of heavy machinery. This should be over by 5.00pm when we will adjourn for a meal somewhere to be decided, depending on how many visitors we have and general interest.
On Sunday morning there will be time between 8am and 9am for any late arrivals with heavy lift requirements - 9am till 12.00pm is reserved for presentations and networking, 12.00pm to 1pm is the main event, the BBQ, 1pm till 3pm is reserved for further presentations. After 3.00pm there will be networking and the breakdown of displays for those who have to leave early.
There is a list of potential topics for presentation. I will make this available soon, as I would like for you, the CNC community, to throw in some ideas of what you would like to discuss, or are willing to talk about yourself. You need not spend hours researching and preparing a topic, just a few brief words with questions and answers will do, even with a few photos.
There will be a projector and computer with printer available for presentations.
Until we get an idea of how many people are attending, I cannot answer the question of how much we will pay for the BBQ. I will make an announcement about this a week before the event.
Anyone wishing to contact me regarding displays, presentations, or any other topic please Email me at
[email protected]
Looking forward to meeting some new people, so if you have not been to one of our meetings before please do join us, even if you are just a beginner or seasoned professional I am sure you will have an enjoyable week end . Peter R coordinator
