Another profile source
I know this is an old thread but I thought I'd add another supplier to the list.
Australis Engineering supply a range of 30x30 and 40x40 products at very competative rates. Their web page only shows the profiles as being sold in 6 metre lengths but this post over on cnczone.com mentions a complete fabrication service including cutting to length, drilling etc.Geoff

snowyskiesau: Nice.. by far the cheapest around. Connector brackets are also cheap too.
I've ordered a small amount from AME, but will possibly be doing a full build with extrusion soon - that place looks great.

When you click on a length of some profiles it goes into a further page with how many cuts you want - not all though.

Just thought I'd input a little
I'd been searching google one night and saw a post from 2004 on WWF about a cheap T-slot table option, it was to use Sail Track which is now in 2011 $20 + GST? for a 4 meter length from Action Aluminium Action Aluminium
Attached a picture of what I bought, the walls are 5-6mm thick and it seems very solid.
Custom nuts will be required though, or the cup head bolts apparently fit in them with a little modification but I have yet to try.

Started planning my 8020 build (got an MDF build done, but not satisfied with it)
40x40
AME - $26.4/m - 1.58kg/m - $16.71/kg
Australis - $23.38/m - 1.37kg/m - $17.07/kg
Misumi EFS - $15.44/m - 1.61kg/m - $9.59/kg
Misumi HFS - $15.92/m - 1.73kg/m - $9.20/kg
40x80
AME - $50.6/m - 3.07kg/m - $16.48/kg
Australis - $39.52/m - 2.28kg/m - $17.33/kg
Misumi EFS - $27.92/m - 2.79kg/m - $10.01/kg
Misumi HFS - $ 28.72/m - 3kg/m - $9.57/kg
80x80
AME - $81.4 - 5kg/m - $16.28/kg
Australis - $65.62 - 3.51kg/m - $18.69/kg
Misumi EFS - not available
Misumi HFS - $45.92 - 4.57kg/m - $10.04/kg
30x30
AME - $14.3/m - 0.75kg/m - $19.07/kg
30x60
AME - $25.3/m - 1.39kg/m - $18.20/kg
60x60
AME - $38.5/m - 2.17kg/m - $17.74/kg
Interesting when you look at the price per kg. 30x30 does not seem worth it at all unless you have some particular need of that slot spacing (which is unlikely given pretty much all the DIY CNC stuff is geared to 40x40)

Thanks for the update of this, saves us all a lot of leg work
Where do you get Misumi profile from in Oz? Last time I enquired about some of their lighter profiles, I was referred to their Singapore branch.Geoff

Yep, Misumi is from Singapore branch.
I don't know about shipping - I'm working on my design before I make an enquiry.
Unfortunately they apparently don't allow web quotes / orders from private individuals (you have to be approved for an upgraded account from them and they want you to be a business) so it may not actually be possible to get the extrusion from them. I'm going to email requesting a quote.
Ch4iS: The EFS can be found here. Their website isn't the easiest to navigate, but the product configurator is quite powerful. Take note that sometimes you have to attack from various pages to get all the extrusion options. That page linked has all the basic 40 size ones (there is a drop down top left of configurator - I think only HFS and perhaps EFS (Take note that there is no 80x80 with EFS) appear to be ideal for this sort of use)

Anyone can be a business. Just get on to the ABN government site and ask for a number and that is it. ... Free.

PS "Pippin Constructions" sounds good

The robotunits stuff is pretty competitive compared to the other locally available profile.
[I had to sign up for an account to get prices so I'm not sure I should post them here. I'll ask them if I can. No issues is getting an account]Geoff

I think I may have found another use for some of the Robotunit profile, as a load track in the van!
I've been looking at L Track for the van but it's horribly expensive compared to the US. Robotunit make a 40x16 that seems ideal for the job and is a lot cheaper ($125 for 6 metres compared to $120 for a 2.5 metre length of L Track). Now to see how much to get some to Tassie...Geoff

Robotunits pricing
I got a reply from Robotunits saying while they preferred to quote on an individual basis per order, that it was OK to post prices here. No information listed on weight/metre but webpages include mechanical information (modulus, moment of inertia etc) Material is given as 6060-T66 or 6063-T66 for some profiles. Profile is sold in 10mm increments up to 6050mm. Prices here are for 1000mm lengths and include cutting and tapping both ends to 50mm. Most sizes are in 50mm increments - not all given here.
40x40 - There are two different ranges here:
$33.95
$26.13 This is the lean line range whi h seems to be a thinner walled material,
40x80 - There are two different ranges here:
$58.98
$39.51 - This is the lean line range
80x80
$92.05
30x30 30x60 60x60 are not available. Other sizes include:
50x50
$72.03
100x200
$264.51
They also have a 200x25 that would make a good t-slot table.
$207.93
EDIT: Just noticed that the CAD data for the profiles does include weight/metre. No account is required to access this.Geoff
