    Thanks Andrew,
Looks like I have a few options! I will spend some time setting it all up and learning some more. I think work flow will change over time and my needs will change. I have a project I am working on at work he moment that I will try out in the coming weeks.
    Cheers Cal

I think so Eric, I have yet to cut a design though. I have still been working on getting a ukulele finished which continues this weekend.

Spent a bit of time on Fusion 360 to try and create a little panel out of acrylic for an amplifier I own. I plan on lighting it up with LED’s from the bottom edge when I install it.

The acrylic is 10mm thick and the logo will be cut from the back to a depth of 6mm. The whole thing is 335mm long and 80mm tall.

I have to work out how to create the tool path, not sure weather to do it in fusion or go straight to the openbuilds software?

I’d suggest a shallower depth of cut, most of the ones I did were maximum 0.5mm. But then I did use 4mm cast acrylic. 6mm means the rear edges can’t pick up light. Perhaps a test is in order to see what works best?

also on that point, make sure it is cast acrylic, the other stuff doesn’t cut well

Thanks Andrew, will experiment with it and be guided by what you say.
I have to work out what I am doing wrong with the set up for tool path. Fusion keeps wanting to set the tool to cut the 10mm edge of the file not the face. I will have to do some research when I get time!

At the moment it isn’t! I have been flat out at work and finishing ukuleles, have not had a chance to even look at it.
Heading to Tasmania this afternoon for two weeks then off to Melbourne for a week. I dream of the day that I can do some work with it!

It’s taking me forever to get to the CNC, I have rearranged the shed a fair bit to make it all fit better. With a 6x4metre shed, every cubic mm of space is valuable.
I have cut the first item out today, it’s just Openbuilds test file called Hello World, but it’s a start.
I’m still getting my head around Fusion and tool paths/bit sizes etc.

Well first real file cut! It’s a harmonica comb. I have a bit of work ahead of me because I own a lot of harmonicas!

It’s taking a while to get the hang of it but yes it’s fun. I keep coming up with ideas of what to make. Who knows it may even earn some money

Cut 6 more combs, these are from a modified file of the first one as the harmonica is a different size. It was a bit of messing around with the measurements to get it right.

    These are West Australian Sheoak
