    Default Bears ears and clover

I was thinking to myself .. Wouldn't it be nice to have a set of the the bears ear isoloc templates like the Leigh Jigs ones so that I could make these joints if I so desired.

Then I went to try and find an existing DFX or similar of the template. After an hour or so of looking I still couldn't find anything.

Does any one have such a drawing or similar of these, because it would be a snap to make these things on the CNCs weown

just drew one up , quite easy , chucked a 10mm x10mm grid down , some circles then traced it with a Benzier curve
    JointaConstruct.JPGJointa.JPG

with the "snap" tools set on " intersection " i drew the circles ( auto center on intersection ) , then changed the "snap" to " nearest on graphic " to trace the Benzier curve , 12min

Making the tails will be a breeze but I would be interested in seeing how you are going to manage the pins.
Not easy to put large piece vertically in the CNC.

    Hi saisay
I wasn't thinking of actually making the joints on the CNC, just the template for the router.

    Ken
That was very fast. Do you know whether they will work properly and allow me to use a 1/2" or 10mm router guide so that the matching head and tail pieces are properly sized to each other?

there drawn in 10mm circles , so a 8mm would be good for a CNC machine cutting them out , would also have to think about clearance of 1/10mm so they fit nicely
as a router template , you would need to measure the diameter of the guide you plan on using , and the size of the bit , so maybe a 12mm guide with a 10 mm bit , probably need 0.2mm play in the guide area to stop it binding
you could also use a "laminex cutter " with a bearing guide , and clamp the jig underneath for the side cut , but end grain will need the routers guide collar

measure your router guide , and bit width , how long you want the jig , and ill draw it up
    cheers ken

    Hey Ken

Did you follow the link that saisay gave us? I would think that that would really get your design juices bubbling.

my spindle over hangs the bed by 35mm at the full extension of the xaxis , so its easy to clamp timber to the endrail of the machine in a vertical position , up too 450mm wide
