Belts and pulleys types???
Hi
Looking at using some timing belts and pulleys as a step down on a router build and seeing lots of different belt -pulley types.
I will want to use a 15mm min width but there is a wide verity of styles out there on the web I would like something easily got, a common type that is always available from most anywhere.

Well theres XL and T5 which are trapezoid type timing belts and pulleys and I guess the standard belts, XL is imperial ~ 4.xxmm and T5 is a 5mm pitch.
AT5 not too sure what makes this any better than T5 but it has a 50 degree angle on the tooth instead of 40 degrees which the T5 and XL have, its also a larger tooth.
HTD5M has a more rounded tooth profile which is spose to reduce wear.
All these types should be easily avaliable online or from your local engineering mob, or you can buy some T5 from myself but I have a limited range.

grunt would come from the size of the motor and gearing v's speed , up to a point when they just strip teeth of the kevlar belt ( same as a belt drive , with less belt stretch ), then go for a larger drive pulley and even lower gear , plenty of grunt if your near the snapping strain of a 50mm wide belt , if you tractor ("ARMY tank" track) the motor end , when you snap the belt your up for a ??/ 300mm long round belt only , yes the stuck down belt will ware as well , but if the contact surface on the stuck down belt is 10x the contact of the drive pulley , the drive belt will fail every time
