Hi Bob, I will send you a PM after I type this up
Hi Ken, that is great news ! You may be in the running for the longest travelled award !
Here is the best map I could find within five minutes of Googling...
Babinda Map | Australia Google Satellite Maps
If you move the map a bit you can see Cairns to the north, it looks like a long way away but is about a 40 minute drive.
I got rid of my fishing boat but if you like I have a few friends in the dive industry and can organise some local knowledge closer to the day, lots of reef to look at around here !
Cheers.
Russell.

I have just realised that the 1th of June is the Queen's Birthday weekend.
That is the weekend of the Wooden Boat Raid on Tinaroo.
I'll be at the boat raid so have to miss out.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Arg, I tried to check ages ago that the date wasn't on any public holidays or events, didn't see that one...ah well can't win them all...winning some might be nice though
Shame you can't make it Cliff, but as you are not too far away feel free to drop in another time if ya want to check out the router, right now the PC has died so I have to rebuild it...a couple of weeks should see it working again.
Cheers.

We have our first lucky door prize to giveaway !
Roman has kindly offered to donate a SuperPID motor speed controller, he has offered it to display on the day and then we can have a draw to decide who takes it home.
I will install it on my red beast that has a DeWalt laminate trimmer with no speed control and show the benefits of the controller, we can mill some plastic cable chain pieces or something.
I think the draw will be for people that have registered their intent to turn up on the day either here on this thread or on CNCZone, the two places the event has been promoted, this way the threads get some "bumping" and hopefully we get as many people attending as possible.
So if you plan to attend, say so on this thread and you will go into the draw. Hopefully I can attract some more prizes before then
Cheers.
Russell.

For those that aren't following the CNCZone thread, we now have two more lucky door prizes, Brian Barker from ArtSoft has donated a Mach3 licence and Art Fenerty has donated two gearotic licences, I am getting an engraver going for the day and it has a 4th axis so that may make some cool small gears.
If anybody attending has Mach experience then feel free to nominate yourself to give a quick rundown of its features/setup on the day.
Cheers.

As this is Russell's first meet I am coming from Perth so here's hoping a few of you closer than me can make the trip. It will be great to catch up with any of you from the other side and have a good o'le chin wag on the day.
Sounds like the BBQ is building up to a big event so don't let it slip by.Cheers,
Rod

I haven't posted on this thread yet because I was reluctant to say I will come when being not really sure whether I could.
But I do want to support Russell's BBQ. He came all the way down to one of our BBQs. Pretty good effort.
So I will say that I am going to do my best to be there.
So far, SHMBO has not baulked at the idea and said she would come. (to cairns, not the BBQ, she thinks all things CNC are boring)

Hi all, just a quick message to remind that if you wish to go into the prize draw you will have to mention you are coming on the CNCZone thread, I don't get on these forums very often and have to limit a lot of internet time for the next four weeks.
It is only the prize draw that you have to register on CNCZone for, you can still turn up on the day without doing so, you just won't be in the draw. Also it makes my life easier to know numbers on one forum so I can make sure everybody is catered for.
Here is the link :
CNC BBQ - Cairns, Far North Queensland Australia (June11 2011) (Loads of door prizes) - CNCzone.com-The Largest Machinist Community on the net!
It is free to join CNCZone, just have to think of a user name
Cheers.

Dunno about the rest of you, but reading that list gets me even more excited. Oooh I can't wait!
Simple solutions are only simple in hindsight.
