CNC small brass plate
I am in the process of making a wooden mount for my model 57 Corvette to replace the old plastic mount and need a small etched brass plate for it - see the attached photo. The old mount just used a printed tape as the label but I want the new label the be more fitting with the wooden mount.
Is there someone in Adelaide - preferably within cut lunch driving of Willunga, who can do this? I work near the city so as long as it is south of say Regency road.

I was looking at the photo I posted and they did not even print the old label straight! How dodgy is that.
PS. Anyone have any ideas what type of wood that is. I found it laying around from the previous owner.

If you got a bit of brass, or better still bronze, I'm sure any jewellery store, trophy place or Mr. Minit (or is that Minute?) could do that for you. From your photo it will obviously bring a whole new level of class to your model. Do you have a metal recycler anywhere near you? Good luck with it.

The transfer is $35 per 5 pack of A4 sheets. Considering the rarity that I would use the stuff I am not sure that this is a cost effective solution. I like the idea of etching but I think there may be a cheaper way. My son just bought a Fuji-Xerox solid ink printer so if I print the label in mirror then I may be able to iron on the ink the the brass that way.
Time for some experimentation I think.

Possibly the cheapest etchant for your needs would be ferric chloride - as it is hard/expensive to buy as is, you can prepare your own from hydrochloric acid (hardware store, brick cleaning acid), some nails and some hydrogen peroxide (chemist store) - http://www.instructables.com/id/Make...nted-circuit-/
And if you want to match the font in the original, it looks like Microgamma Bold Extended, but you might prefer to use one of the many specific Corvette fonts.

What about an engraved plate from a trophy store?
I deal with Southern Trophies and I'm sure a one off wouldn't cost the earth and will look excellent. They have a new showroom in Lonsdale. The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.

Looks very nice, is the black laser etched into the plate?

Hi Yanis
Hi Yanis, I live at Willunga and can cut this for you if you still need it - I cut a fair few plaques, etc in brass.
Give me a call.
