    Aha. Thanks for that greolt.

I was not aware that there was more than one type of skate bearing setup.

Follow Greolt's advice rather than mine. He is very knowledgable.

Hey Tony you need to stop stalking me mate :P,

I've ordered a 2.2kw and a 4kw spindle and will order a vfd for the 2.2 on monday.
I tried to get some ply for the base table this morning but they didn't have the right size.

I received all the V bearers etc, just waiting on the grinder skate bearings so i can start cutting the rails

Where did you and paul pickup your mdf in the larger thicknesses?

so as it stands, I need to grind rails, drill and bolt them down, test fit up all the motor brackets etc, work out and order springs and the rack n pinion (already got quote for it)
drill base ply when i get it and drill the base support brackets.

this disassemble for paint, reassemble and order cable chain
then bolt up my electronics board and start wiring up for test run

    Hi Dave
Would you post some pictures of the skate bearing setup when you get it please? I would like to see what the difference is like.

Also, for just about any thickness of MDF or ply I go to Ringwood & Ply at Oxley. Very handy for me.

    Hi Dave,

I got the boards for our machines from Plywood, MDF suppliers
We used the moisture resistant one to ensure better stability in the board (no swelling or changing shape)

    Cheers
    Tony

So i've got a bit more done recently, although not as fast as i'd would of liked.

I now have the y car and gantry all welded up. the spindle has arrived, my V bearings have arrived, and i've almost finished cutting down my rails to size ready to grind the V into them.

I'll get some photos of the grinding skate for you as soon as i've finished cutting the rails to size. The cutting jig bolts up to the grinding plate to grind a V in the rails.

Keep at it Dave, It took me a while to get my MM built but have no problems with the V rail design of the MM. It's seen lots of dust here and it still going strong.
