    Geoff,

Thats great work. I have wanted to make one for years, same reason you put forward.

Any chance of sharing the drawing?Might entice me to actually make one.

    /M

Thanks for all the positive comments. I cut some dados today and it works well. The insert I used is labelled and I'll use it again next time I cut the same size dados.

Benno13 the plate was drawn up in Vectric VCarve Pro.

Happy to send you the drawing Mike and the gcode if you want. PM me your email and I'll send it through. Same for you too Benno13 if you would like.

I'm assuming they're a standard size for most saws?

    Cheers
    Geoff

    Default Bandsaw Tensioner

A simple cam lever arrangement for my BAS 350 Bandsaw, and I have to say, it works really well. The tension and tracking is always the same.

Default had a go at a clock escapement

over the last few days i drew up an escapement , worked out all the angles , scratched my head a few times and had to go consult that smart #### called google

this morning i ran the code ( 2D shape cut) , i used some "Aulwell" that aluminium sided plastic sheet , this was an old sign so sorry about the loudness , i didnt want to waste good material , too find out it didnt work ,

one of the quickest cut times ive had on my CNC , flat out 4mm endmill ( 600mm/min x 200% with mist cooling

scrapped a stanley knife around the parts to clean up and screwed it too the side of my work bench

had to move the pawl 4mm farther away to get it to run , but it works a treat

below are the files , JPG's , AVI , EPS

    cheers ken
how come a 10mm peg dont fit in a 10mm hole

    Default Having fun

Haven't done any serious stuff, just having fun doing the dranddad thing. The plaques made for the grandkids, and surrogate grandkids. Hmm. The list of surrogates seems to be growing. Fairys for the girls, and 'Fred the train' for the boys. The look on little faces an absolute joy.

Next is a kangaroo kit from MakeCNC. The kids will love them, but their dad's will probably hate me. LOL It's about time the dads learned how to assemble stuff.

    Nice work Chris.

The kids will definitely like them, especially since they were made by grandad. Don't ya just love playing around with your CNC?

    Cheers

They were the earlier ones, where I was playing around with finishes, so there was some variation. Finally settled for a coat of sanding sealer, then 2 coats of spray eurethane. Then do the cutting, and give a spray of black, and wipe off the excess. A light sand when dry, and 2 more coats of eurethane. Came up really well.

As far as the instructions for the roo, MakeCNC supply them as part of the plan purchase ($3.50). So I'll give them as part of the purchase...if I manage to sell any. Once you have built one, the instructions make perfect sense.

    Default Too much fun

Jeeeze, haven't had this much fun in years.

Kitty Cat didn't like this one. Threw a Hissy Spitty Fit.....and disappeared out the back door like a rocket.

On a serious note, in doing these I'm learning a great deal about my machine and VcarvePro. OH. did I mention it's FUN.

At this rate you will need the plans for the ark.

Haven't figured that out Russell, at this point I'm just sorting out some different sizes, and varieties. Several family members have put up their hands, so that might be a good starting point in spreading the word. Will just have to see.

    Default Fence panels

I have finished over 1/3 of the fence panels that I am making to keep my granddaughter safe.

The letter box was surprisingly time consuming to make.

The material is 6mm aluminium and the size about 600mm tall by 2400 long.
