All three files look to be the same trace - there's 2 curves at the top and everything else is line segments. I'm wondering if the tracing algorithm got fooled by the jaggies in the image file.

OK here is the same thing but completely redrawn (in Aspire) just using 4 bezier curves

I'd say something's not quite right with your DXF export - that file is all lines - 1,137 nodes.

I've attached a very quick trace - it's not perfect due to the low res of the original - I'm guessing the OP could provide a higher-res image if a better trace is needed.

I tried opening all three files in Adobe and no problems. I tried opening all three files in Corel 12and no problems. I tried opening all three files in Aspire and no problems. I tried opening all three files in RDCAM and no problems I tried opening all three files in Inkscape and it wouldn't open anything. Said there was an error in a script. I did notice that all the programs change the number of points. In Aspire there are only 6 points whilst the others give it a few hundred points as they don't seem to able to understand Aspire's bezier code.

When I tried to open your file with Aspire it said "Cannot set CTABLESTYLE to that value'

It sounds like the DXFs get saved for different versions, and some get legacy versions incorporated that use lots of straight lines rather than curves, and different software saves in different ways. I took this version into Fusion 360 and exported it. Being AUtodesk software you'd think that should be tickety-boo.

That one opened in everything, but it was distorted a bit in Inkscape. The file had many nodes. Did you use bezier curves to draw it?

It was an un-edited trace from Corel X7, exported as an AI to Illustrator CS6, saved to DXF then into Fusion 360 and exported as a DXF. At all stages it was half a dozen or so curves with 3 straight lines.

It might be a software issue

Like Rusty I was opening files with many many nodes connected by straight line segments.
Rusty's last file Kidney Table Trace [Fusion].dxf opened in Corel X5 as six bezier curves with three relatively short straight line segments. (at full scale 1250mm across, the 3 straight line segments are between 16 and 49 mm long).
The straight lines are very hard to identify unless the drawing is expanded to full size.
